Productions
Do productions have acting, singing and dance?
Yes, all of our shows include acting, singing and dance.
How many productions are staged each year?
We stage three major productions each year, one in the spring term, one in the summer term and another in the autumn term. In addition, we run workshops during the Easter, summer and October holidays.
Where are your productions staged?
Most of our term-time productions take place at Hampton Hill Theatre.
Do parents provide costumes?
Our costume designer will source and make costumes, however we will ask you to provide a base-layer. This is likely to be items such as black shoes, tights, T-shirts, white shirt etc. Sometimes children have additional items which they like to suggest for their character. This is always welcome and we are very grateful for any additional costume pieces which can be borrowed for a show. You may be asked to complete a short on-line form to submit your child’s measurements for our designer.
Will there be lighting and sound?
Yes, our three major productions each year are run by a full professional stage crew, including a lighting designer, set designer, sound technician, costume designer and stage manager. We provide children with a professional experience, working in excellent venues with the latest lighting and sound equipment.
Casting & Rehearsals
How long are productions rehearsed for?
Term time productions run over a two and a half month period. This can vary depending on when school holidays fall and when the theatre is available.
Holiday workshop productions and showcases are rehearsed for 2-5 days.
How often do you rehearse?
8-12 year olds taking part in our term time productions rehearse once a week for 2.5hours. In addition, we hold two or three Sunday/evening rehearsals in the lead up to the production at Hampton Hill Theatre, plus technical and dress rehearsals during production week.
5-7 year olds taking part in our term-time Mini Musicals classes rehearse once a week for 90 minutes. At the end of term, children rehearse and perform on stage at Hampton Hill Theatre.
Where do you rehearse?
Our casts rehearse and holiday workshops run at venues in Twickenham, Teddington, Hampton Hill and Walton on Thames.
Do you break for half term?
Yes, our casts who rehearse after school break for one week and those who rehearse on a Saturday usually break the weekend before and after half term. (This time is made up with additional rehearsals).
When will our child find out which part they have?
We cast the show after 2 weeks of workshop auditions and always prior to the half term break, giving children the week off to start working on their lines.
What sort of part will my child get?
We cast the show based on the pool of actors who have committed to the production. Every child is fully involved in the show from start to finish and all children will be acting, singing and dancing..
