Hampton Hill Theatre was in for a real treat this summer as award-winning Dramacube Productions brought Disney’s Moana Jr sailing onto its stage!

With such an ambitious choice, I don’t really know where to start! The set and costume design could easily have been taken from a West End show- both were truly breathtaking.  Moving set pieces made the action so accessible for the actors and enjoyable to watch. The waves were beautiful and the boat added a touch of theatrical magic.

Having seen the film, I had no idea that the songs and the dialogue of the script would be so challenging. But Dramacube made a brave choice and pulled it off.

The actors did incredibly well, learning new languages for songs and attempting to follow tricky tunes. What stood out for me was how safe the children felt together, as a team, on stage. When someone stumbled or something dropped, another member of the cast swiftly and seamlessly swooped in to support and rectify the issue.

Dramacube was in town, the children owned the stage and as team of warriors and demi-gods, their enjoyment shone brightly for all to see. Well done Dramacube! (Twickenham Blue cast)

Local Girl Guides

A group of Girl Guides came to review Walton Red Cast as part of their Media Critic badge.

It was exciting, epic, strange but mysterious and unbelievable! … I loved Maui singing, I have never heard a boy sing so greatly! (Mia - Guide)

It was a very good performance of Moana. I was surprised that it was performed by children and how well they did… It was a very pleasant performance!  (Grace - Guide)

This performance of Moana was very entertaining and humorous. I enjoyed it a lot. Also it was very professional and I was very impressed with their performances. They remembered their lines and cues… The lines could have been louder but other than that it was a pleasant and fantastic performance! (Sofia - Guide)

Moana was very good. Most of the actors stayed in tune and acted incredibly well, especially Maui! They got all their timings correct and there were no awkward pauses. A brilliant and enjoyable performance as I loved the songs and the 'Shiny' song was impeccable!…A marvellous performance!  (Tabitha - Guide)

The performance was entertaining! …They were really good at singing and acting…  The set and costumes and props were good. (Ella - Guide)
